This meeting was held in person and via Zoom for the first time as a trial to see if it was possible to hold Parish Council meetings both in person and over the internet.

LATEST PARISH NEWS – NOVEMBER 2025
The Parish Council were made aware of a planning application for a second solar farm to the West of Cumberlow Green by Lightrock for a Solar Farm Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), ground mounted solar farm, associated infrastructure, access and landscaping.
North Hertfordshire District Council (NHDC) have received an application for a 99.9MW solar Farm to the land West of Cumberlow Farm adjacent to the A507. The proposed solar farm site is 187.3Ha (465 acres) adjacent to Munches Farm.
The Munches farm Lightrock solar farm is in addition to the RES Beane Valley solar planning application which is to the West of Cottered between Cottered and Cromer. The Beane Valley solar farm proposal is for a 49.9MW solar farm covering 85Ha (200 acres)
Both of these proposals put a huge area of natural farmland under jeopardy for future generations. There is an opposition group to both of these proposals and they have a very useful website that can be found here :

Cumberlow Green Farm – Lightrock Solar Farm Opposition Group
Rushden and Wallington Parish Council have put in an objection to the planned Cumberlow Green Lightrock solar farm planning application. This objection can be found by following this link
Parishioners can make their own comments about the planning application itself. This can be found at the NHDC planning portal by following this link below and quoting this application number 25/01947/FP.

The Parish Council have been informed of the following Outline planning application submitted by North Herts Council (NHC) regarding the proposed development of 3,200 homes, 1 secondary, 2 primary schools, employment, waste, leisure infrastructure and a mixed use local centre to be built in and around Baldock. The planning department are inviting comments from the general public and the closing date for comments is 14th November 2025.
Consultations about this development have been held since 2017 with numerous public meetings in and around Baldock organised by the Baldock, Bygrave and Clothall Neighbourhood Plan Group which then fed into the NHDC local plan. There was an Extraordinary Planning meeting of the Rushden and Wallington Parish Council held at 8.00pm on Tuesday 5th August 2025 in Rushden Village Hall.

Shaw Green Woodland Trust and Forestry Commission sponsored ‘Rose and Lion Wood’ woodland planting scheme.
The project, which is to be known as Rose and Lion Wood, consists of planting circa 25,000 deciduous native trees over 18 hectares in a scheme which has been developed by the Woodland Trust and is supported and funded by the Forestry Commission.
Nick Stainthorpe of Bee Field Projects Limited purchased the land from Shaw Green Farm in 2022 and is about to embark on a large scale tree planting scheme for the field around Shaw Green and Mill End. In the links below there are plans of the scheme he is undertaking.
Works are about to start with the first works being improvements to the field access by making it more level and firm so that can vehicles can be brought in to assist with planting, fencing and related tasks and the locating of a temporary container and a new shed as already consented for tools and implements whilst works are underway. The field will be fenced against deer to enable the trees to grow without being grazed with a view to planting beginning in Autumn 2024.
